As part of the Measure U Bond program, Tahoe Valley Elementary School is undergoing a campus modernization aimed at creating innovative, student-centered learning environments and improving site functionality. A major component of the project includes the demolition of aging portable classrooms and the construction of a new, permanent classroom building housing six classrooms and support spaces. The building’s design will feature fiber cement paneling to complement existing campus architecture, along with vibrant accents in the school’s colors and prominent displays of the thunderbird mascot to foster school pride. Adjacent site improvements include new playgrounds, relocation of the kindergarten play area and upgraded hardcourts.
The modernization also addresses key site circulation challenges. A re-designed parent drop-off, an expanded parking lot with designated staff parking and a dedicated bus drop-off zone will greatly improve safety and traffic flow. Additionally, a new covered campus entry and activated courtyard will serve as a welcoming and functional hub for students, families and staff.
