After Paradise Elementary School was completely destroyed in the 2018 Camp Fire, Paradise Unified School District first focused their time and efforts on renovating the surviving elementary schools, causing students and faculty from Paradise Elementary School to converge into other District schools. After six years, it is time to bring this campus back to its beloved community! Studio W Architects is working with the District to do a total reconstruction of the campus, plus a TK expansion.
The campus will boast a central courtyard, outdoor stage plaza and 32 classrooms that include general and STEM classrooms, a learning resource center, special education and TK/K early education. Outdoor learning areas are incorporated into this design to encourage students to congregate in these areas and be an alternative to traditional classroom learning. The main entrance, drop-off and parking lot will provide a safe and streamlined approach for students. Additional facilities consist of soccer fields, a baseball field, hard courts and playgrounds with shade sails.
Plan re-use from Paradise Ridge Elementary School’s administration/multipurpose building and Cedarwood Elementary School’s classroom buildings are being site adapted on this campus in order to remain cost efficient and to create a cohesive design throughout the District. School spirit and identity is reinforced through murals, school colors and banners prominently displayed at the front of the administration/multipurpose building.
