The Market Building 1 is a commercial space located in the heart of the Tank District in Meriam Park. This project embodies a refined balance between the region’s agricultural roots and architectural flexibility, ensuring adaptability for a diverse mix of retail, food/beverage, and health and wellness businesses.
The building is defined by a simple agrarian shed roof form, a purposeful design choice that reflects the region’s architectural vernacular while establishing visual continuity with the adjacent event space, The Barn at Meriam Park. This elemental roof-line and subsequent massing reinforces the building’s connection to its surroundings and enhances functionality accommodating generous interior volumes and ample natural light.
The structural approach deliberately provides an open, minimal column interior, allowing for highly adaptable tenant configurations. The exterior palette features corrugated metal siding, wood accents and expansive glass elements, providing a sense of durability, warmth and raw simplicity, creating a welcoming, tactile contrast.
The building reflects a modern interpretation of agricultural and industrial architecture, balancing functional adaptability with a strong visual identity. Its design not only supports diverse tenant needs but contributes to Meriam Park’s vision to create an authentic and lasting sense of place built upon a foundation of sustainability, diverse uses and social vibrancy.
