Sacramento, CA—Meet Aerie Sandusky! Aerie is a Project Administrator/Office Assistant in our Sacramento Studio. She joined the firm last September and is responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of our Sacramento Studio, as well as providing clerical assistance to the technical project teams. Aerie serves as the liaison with jurisdictional agencies such as DSA, OPSC, CDE and others, and is instrumental in providing administrative support to our clients’ projects. What is your hometown, or where do you live currently and what do you like about it?

Currently, I live in Citrus Heights, CA. I like that the city is working on infrastructure renovations and has a “smaller” city feel. I am looking forward to future economic growth.

What is your favorite restaurant or food?

Mexican or Thai. My favorite Thai restaurant is Thai Basil in Downtown Sacramento.

What is your favorite song, movie or book?

“Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen (book & movie)

Who is your hero or a person that inspires you?

Wonder Woman, all the way!

 

What is a typical weekend for you (i.e. what are your hobbies, interests, etc.)?

My son is in travel baseball. So, basically, baseball tournaments all weekend. Anything else is squeezed in!

How did you find administration as a career?

I completed a training course in Office Administration. I was referred by my instructor, who knew someone who worked at an architectural firm in Roseville. I was hired and as I developed more skills, my role expanded within the firm. I worked for them for about 12 years.

What is a building and/or destination that inspires you and why?

Church in Kaustinen, Finland. My ancestors built the church in the 1770’s. My ancestral family was famous in Finland and built about 30 churches and multiple bridges in Finland from 1770 to 1800.

What is your most memorable project and why?

All of the Paradise Unified School District projects. It’s truly an honor to be part of the team that is rebuilding the community after the devastating Camp Fire.

 

What is your favorite aspect of working at Studio W Architects?

Freedom to try new things and great personalities!

What project have you worked on at Studio W Architects that made you grow the most professionally? Why?

All the projects I am currently working on have helped me to grow professionally. As a newer employee, I am learning the Studio W standards and how to apply them to projects.
