Oroville, CA—Thermalito Union Elementary School District recently celebrated an exciting milestone with the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Plumas Avenue Elementary School Expanded Learning Center, a space dedicated to enriching opportunities for students and families within the Thermalito community of Oroville, CA.
The Studio W team joined the celebration alongside district leadership, students, families and community members. The event featured a ceremonial ribbon cutting, guided tours of the new facility and festive activities to commemorate the occasion.
Funded by the District’s Measure Z general obligation bond and an Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) grant, the facility includes six new modular classrooms designed for the afterschool program and independent study, as well as a new 5,800 square foot administration/multipurpose building. This building supports faculty, programs and board meetings, with a large community space that opens to an outdoor courtyard, a warming kitchen and administrative offices. Exterior features of the project include basketball and pickleball courts, along with a connection to the neighboring park and walking trail. The new facilities connect seamlessly to the existing Plumas Avenue Elementary School campus through new sidewalks, parking and a bus stop.
