Studio W joined representatives from Lake Tahoe Unified School District, CORE Construction, Cumming Group and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Tahoe Valley Elementary School Modernization project. The ceremony featured remarks from District leadership and board members and included the ceremonial turning of the soil, marking the beginning of an exciting transformation for the campus.

As part of the District’s Measure U Bond Program, the modernization is focused on replacing outdated facilities with updated learning spaces that better meet the needs of today’s learners. The project will remove aging portable classrooms and introduce a new permanent classroom building that will provide flexible, modern learning environments.

Beyond the new classroom facility, the project includes site improvements designed to enhance both the student experience and campus operations. New playgrounds, relocated kindergarten play areas and upgraded hardcourts will create improved spaces for recreation and outdoor activities. Campus circulation and safety will also be enhanced through a redesigned parent drop-off area, expanded parking lot and a new bus drop-off zone. The modernization will also establish a stronger sense of arrival with the addition of a covered campus entry and a revitalized courtyard.

In coverage of the groundbreaking by the Tahoe Daily Tribune, Studio W’s CEO, Brian Whitmore, highlighted the long-term benefits of the project, noting that “the improvements are meant to strengthen the educational environments while promoting comprehensive safety and security campus-wide for years to come.”

We look forward to seeing the vision come to life and sharing updates as construction progresses toward its anticipated completion in summer 2027.
