At Studio W Architects, we’re passionate about fostering growth and celebrating the achievements of our talented team. We’re thrilled to recognize Melissa Szpik on her acceptance into Cohort 15 of the Coalition for Adequate School Housing’s (CASH) School Facilities Leadership Academy (SFLA).

Melissa brings three decades of architectural experience and a deep passion for creating functional, inspiring educational spaces. Her acceptance into the SFLA represents an exciting opportunity to further enhance her expertise in key aspects of school project development, including site acquisition and asset management, effective public agency collaboration, construction and resiliency.

Melissa is particularly eager to engage in peer-to-peer learning with mentors and gain a holistic understanding of the diverse approaches involved in delivering exceptional educational environments. Since joining Studio W Architects, Melissa has excelled in leading internal and external teams, strengthening partnerships with school districts and inspiring the next generation of architects and AEC professionals.

The SFLA, a collaborative effort between CASH and the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT), is dedicated to cultivating the leadership skills of its participants and advancing educational opportunities in California. Over the course of a year, participants engage in an intensive program covering all facets of school facilities planning, funding, design, construction and maintenance.

Studio W Architects is proud to have eight professionals accepted into this prestigious program over the years. With K-12 education at the core of our practice, we’re committed to supporting initiatives like SFLA that empower leaders to make a lasting impact in education.
