Covello, CA—Led by Studio W Architects, Round Valley Unified School District appealed a decision by the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) to acquire State “new construction” reimbursement funds for their gymnasium project completed in 2020. OPSC claimed the project did not qualify for reimbursement because the District already had a gym and this project was adequate for the school enrollment. Our argument was that the existing facility was inadequate as a gym and that it served the entire K-12 district, therefore the new project was necessary and should qualify for reimbursement. The State Allocation Board (SAB) voted on October 26, 2022 to uphold the District’s appeal which brings them an additional $2.4 million in facilities funding in coming months. This is an example of we bring value that is well beyond design to our District partners.
