Sacramento, CA—“We wanted to create a social and collaborative environment for people … all of the furniture, lighting and features had to support that idea,” commented Brian Whitmore, President & CEO, on the workplace interiors of the Douglas Corporate Center. This Studio W Architects project was showcased in Comstock’s Magazine’s 21st Annual Capital Region ACRE/BOMA Office Guide (April 2021 issue, volume 33, number 4, pages 92-93).
The story goes on to explain the strategic use of materials such as wood and glass to create a juxtaposition between a modern aesthetic and a classic richness and comfort—something akin to a home environment. Glass walls were incorporated between the office suites and the lobby to allow for the flow of natural light, transparency and to convey a feeling of collaboration and connection.
