Sacramento, CA: Brian Whitmore, President of BCA Architects, moderated a workshop at the Coalition for Adequate School Housings’ (C.A.S.H.) Annual Conference, “Beyond Award Winning – Developing A Compelling Value Based School Design,” which was well attended and stimulated engaging dialog amongst the panelists and attendees. The program focused on creating school designs for projects of all sizes that look outstanding and also achieve great value by leveraging all available funding, solving complex problems, saving time and conserving dollars. The panelists offered case studies of successful value-based projects, as well as those that were not so successful, to understand the factors that led to their achievements and pitfalls, with the ultimate goal of being more aligned on design and value.

Thank you to Dr. Todd Cutler, Ed.D., Superintendent, with Winters Joint Unified School District; Brett Mitchell, Director of Facilities Construction & Modernization, from San Juan Unified School District; and Doug Orr, Associate Superintendent, Facilities Construction & Modernization, with Natomas Unified School District for participating on the panel.
