Studio W Architects has developed plans for two projects with Millbrae School District: Spring Valley Elementary School Shade Structure and Taylor Middle School Parking & Drop-Off Reconfiguration.
The Spring Valley Elementary School Shade Structure project includes a fabric shade structure and associated path-of-travel improvements to and from the administration building and parking area. This new shade structure will provide a sheltered area for students to gather and collaborate. It was important for Studio W Architects to design code, health and safety improvements with a fast-track delivery for the District.
Taylor Middle School was in need of a new parking lot that would best utilize the available space, streamline student drop-offs and fuse with the already existing trails and trees. Studio W designed the Parking & Drop-Off Reconfiguration project with isolated drop-off and passing lanes at the entrance of the school, while enhancing the parking by establishing its own entrance and exit for greater efficiency. This new parking lot layout will contain 55 parking spaces and connections to the neighboring trail system, interfacing seamlessly with City of Millbrae amenities. At the west side of the campus, an enhanced entry plaza and amphitheater seating create opportunities for outdoor learning. Prior to entering the plaza, students, faculty and guests will be met with ornamental fencing to provide security with flair.
